Nigeria’s President Mahamadou Issoufou said it is ECOWAS’s duty to help Mali quickly re-establish its democratic institutions, which, he said, is the hope of the Malian people and of Mali's strategic partners. He called for cooperation between the military junta in Mali and ECOWAS to speed up the process.
ECOWAS earlier imposed sanctions against Mali and called for a return to the constitutional order.
