(VOVworld) – The European Commission proposed on Thursday the lifting of visa requirements for the people of Kosovo within Europe's borderless Schengen zone, a day after Kovoso became the 55^th member of the Union of European Football Associations. At a press briefing in Brussels, Dimitris Avramopoulos, EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, highlighted the importance of visa exemptions for the people of Kosovo and expressed his hope that the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament will soon approve the proposal. He said visa-free travel to the EU would strengthen business, social, and cultural ties with the EU.
