(VOVworld) – A delegation of the Vietnamese Navy, Zone 4, has arrived on Sinh Ton island, its first stop of a trip to visit and bring Tet goods to the soldiers and other people living on the island. Preparations for a cozy Tet are ready on Sinh Ton, an island of 42,000 square kilometers, about 330 nautical miles east of the mainland. Trinh Cong Ly, chairman of Sinh Ton commune’s People’s Committee, said: "Our living conditions have improved remarkably. In addition to Tet gifts and goods of necessity sent to us from the mainland, we’ll celebrate an adequate traditional Lunar New Year with food we produced ourselves."

Residents of Sinh Ton Island now enjoy a comfortable life with adequate infrastructure facilities such as schools and cultural houses. A local resident, Nguyen Van Hanh, said enough water is stored for one year, electricity is available 24 hours a day, and many households can now afford modern electronic devices. Hanh said: "My family just received gifts from the mainland for Tet. We have also prepared well for the coming lunar New Year celebrations. We plan to attend a flag raising ceremony at the communal People’s Committee headquarters, go to the pagoda, and visit other households to extend greetings on the first days of the New Year."
The local authorities on Sinh Ton Island plan to organize sports competitions for the residents during the Tet holiday.
