South Korean Yonhap news agency quoted an unnamed official as saying that the missiles were launched from the DPRK’s southeastern coastal region Gitdaeryeong and Wonsan in an easterly direction. The official said the DPRK launched 500km sight- Scud-C missiles. Spokesperson for the South Korean Defense Ministry Min-seok called the missile test a “calculated and provocative” move by Pyongyang in response to the annual joint-military exercise between Washington and Seoul. Pyongyang has objected strongly and called for cancellation or delay of this joint military exercise. It launched 4 short-range Scud-C missiles last Thursday.
