In the letter Kim describes his June 12 summit with Trump in Singapore and the resulting joint statement as the “start of a meaningful journey”. The North Korean leader said he believes the two leaders’ good will, sincere efforts, and unique approach to opening up a new future for North Korea and the US will surely “come to fruition”. Kim said their important progress in improving North Korea-US relations will lead to another meeting between the two leaders.

Trump tweeted copies of the letter in Korean and English and called it a very nice letter. Trump said “epochal progress” has been achieved.
