There are some 180,000 missing martyrs and 300,000 sets of remains of unidentified martyrs in cemeteries across Vietnam. The DNA bank contains approximately 600,000 samples of martyrs' remains and their relatives.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the goal of identifying 20,000 samples of martyrs' remains by 2030 as part of efforts to identify 60% of the unknown martyrs in cemeteries using empirical methods.
"We must employ science and technology to further advance this work, with all our hearts and minds, responsibilities, and profound gratitude for those who sacrificed for the nation and people. Party and State leaders are always concerned about the identification of martyrs and are doing our utmost to fulfill the wishes and expectations of martyrs' families," he said.
To date nearly 10,000 samples of martyrs' remains and over 3,000 biological samples from martyrs' relatives have been analyzed through DNA testing, resulting in the identification of more than 1,000 martyrs.

PM Chinh said that the Party, State, and people always care for revolutionary contributors and their relatives with deep respect, gratitude, and a high sense of responsibility.
"With the tradition of 'Drinking water, remember its source’ in mind, we need to improve and effectively implement policies and laws regarding revolutionary contributors to ensure that they and their families enjoy good living conditions,” Mr. Chinh said, adding, “It is important to educate the younger generation about the nation's heroic struggles through various forms with diverse content.”
