(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang will pay a state visit to China from June 19 to 21 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. The spokesperson for the Vietnam Foreign Ministry Luong Thanh Nghi on Thursday said that this will be the first state visit by Truong Tan Sang as Vietnamese President and Vietnam’s first high-ranking visit to China since new Chinese leaders were elected. Nghi said: “President Truong Tan Sang’s visit is of great importance. It aims to strengthen political trust and friendly cooperation between the two Parties and States and map out a new roadmap to further the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries for the future both of Vietnam and China and for peace, stability and development in the region”.

President Sang is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping and meet other senior Chinese leaders, and will visit Guangdong province. The two sides are expected to sign a number of cooperative agreements.

Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will pay a working visit to Laos from June 14 to 16. During the visit, both sides will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation, and complete the project on border markers revamp between Vietnam and Laos in 2014. The First Vice President of the Cuban State Council Miguel Diaz Canel and Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino are also scheduled to visit Vietnam this month.

A ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held in Hoi An from June 19 and 23 with UNESCO General Director Irina Bokova participating. A conference between localities and diplomatic delegations will be held to assist coastal central provinces to boost investment promotion.
