Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung |
Speaking at the event, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said digital transformation will open up new opportunities for Vietnam and will bring about complete and comprehensive changes to each individual, organization, and business across all sectors. Minister Hung said: "ICT businesses are urged to take up a digital platform to contribute to speeding up Vietnam’s digital transformation. Today we witnessed the inauguration of the Alliance of Digital Transformation with its membership including leading technological firms in Vietnam. The first 8 businesses have committed to invest in infrastructure and digital transformation platforms. More and more businesses are expected to join this revolution."
A national digital transformation scheme is being drafted by the Ministry of Information and Communications and will be submitted to the Prime Minister in November. In the draft plan, Vietnam will aim to emerge as one of the top four countries in ASEAN in terms of digitization by 2025 with 80,000 digital technology companies.
Once adopted, the scheme will be the foundation for ministries, sectors, local authorities and enterprises to build and implement their digital transformation plans to support continued socio-economic development.
Held annually since 2011, the Vietnam ICT Summit is a technology policy forum that helps promote the role of information technology in national industrialisation and modernisation. The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Software and IT Service Association (VINASA).
