The archival materials are original documents, many of them being introduced to the public for the first time.

Highlights include documents on the establishment of the Vietnam Liberation Army Team, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army, documents detailing President Ho Chi Minh's connection to the Vietnam People’s Army, and records of General Vo Nguyen Giap, often called the "Elder Brother" of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Mr. Tran Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Department of State Records and Archives, said: "These are precious documents preserved by the National Archives Center III and the Department of State Records and Archives. The displayed documents and artifacts were carefully selected and have historical and scientific importance. They contain valuable lessons and experience for the military, the Party, and the State that’s relevant to national defense and security in the current context. These documents are a valuable resource for educating future generations about Vietnam’s revolutionary tradition."

On December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Liberation Army Team was established in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province. This was the first unit of the revolutionary armed forces and a precursor of the Vietnam People’s Army. Since its establishment, under the guidance and training of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam People’s Army has grown into a modern, elite force that is the core of Vietnam’s armed forces.
