General Secretary Lam received Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong, and National Defense Minister Dong Jun of China, who are in Vietnam for the first 3+3 Strategic Dialogue.
The Party leader said the primary task for both sides is to continue to elevate strategic ties so that Vietnam-China cooperation achieves more concrete results and brings practical benefits to both nations. He affirmed readiness to work with Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to maintain close exchanges, continue guiding all sectors and levels, and set the direction for the positive development of Vietnam-China relations from the beginning of the term.

General Secretary Lam proposed making the 3+3 Strategic Dialogue a model mechanism. He suggested that both sides control and handle disagreements at sea effectively in accordance with high-level common perceptions, persistently resolve disagreements through peaceful means, in line with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), contributing to consolidating trust and maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The three Chinese Ministers of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, and Public Security said China considers Vietnam a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, an important direction in China's foreign policy. They pledged to closely coordinate with their respective Vietnamese agencies, adhere to high-level common perceptions, and enhance the sharing of theory and practice on Party building and national governance.
Both sides shared the view of better controlling and resolving disagreements in line with the new level of bilateral relations, high-level common perceptions, and international law.
