(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Saturday monitored preparations in Quang Ngai province to deal with typhoon Haiyan.

He visited Dung Quat oil refinery, seaport, and reviewed plans to evacuate people from coastal communes in Binh Son district. Quang Ngai province is removing over 400,000 people to safer places. Mr. Phuc appreciated the authority’s decision to encourage hotels to provide accommodations for the evacuees. He asked Dung Quat oil refinery to dismantle some unnecessary equipment to ensure safety.

"Our ultimate task is to protect people. We have to be ready to rescue people in any circumstance. Before the typhoon hits the mainland, we have to inform people of its danger and force them to leave vulnerable places." Phuc said.

Also on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and Head of the Central Steering Committee for Floods and Storms Prevention and Control Cao Duc Phat instructed preventive activities in Thua Thien Hue province. Mr. Hai visited coastal communes in Phu Vang and Phu Loc district and Phu Hai wharf in Phu Vang district. He urged the local authority to evacuate all before on Saturday afternoon.

Da Nang city will evacuate 74,000 coastal people to safer places. Phung Tan Viet, Vice Chairman of Da Nang city People’s Committee, said: "We’ll remove all people to safer places two hours before the typhoon hits the mainland. We’ll force all fishermen to leave their boats for the mainland."

The Command of the Military Zone 5 has established 3 stations in Da Nang city, Quang Nam and Binh Dinh province and ordered air, navy, and ground forces to stand-by. Major-general Nguyen Quy Nhon said: "We have organized troops and armored vehicles to rescue people during the typhoon. We have arranged emergency and multifunctional vehicles and military doctors to assist the people."

Thua Thien Hue and Quang Ngai province has prepared to evacuate 113,000 and 216,000 people respectively to safer places.
