(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang met with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong in Hanoi on Thursday who is in Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Singaporean leaders for their condolences and for sending a delegation to the funeral of the late Party leader, emphasizing that the affection and support from Singapore's leaders highlight the strong friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.

Mr. Quang proposed that both countries continue to work closely to elevate their bilateral relationship in the future.

The same day, Deputy PM Quang received Donald McKinnon, the New Zealand government’s Special Envoy, who was in Vietnam for the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Quang conveyed his thanks to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Governor General Cindy Kiro, and the people of New Zealand for their condolences. He praised New Zealand's practical support for Vietnam, saying New Zealand remains a trusted friend of Vietnam and acknowledging the robust development of bilateral relations in various fields.
