(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the working group of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee were present on Saturday in areas that suffered severe  damage in the wake of flash floods and landslides in Xa Dung and Tia Dinh communes, Dien Bien province.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the military, police, and militia forces to protect the safety of people's lives at all costs. He visited and encouraged people in the flooded areas to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

Deputy PM Ha requested emergency rescue plans at isolated locations, fastest access to remote villages where people are facing food and drinking water shortages, and prioritization of communications and electricity.

Flash floods caused by heavy rain from the evening of Thursday to Friday in Dien Bien province and neighboring areas have left 8 people dead, 3 missing, and many more injured. 200 houses, schools, medical facilities, and traffic facilities have been broken. Initial damage is estimated at 3.92 million USD.
