It was the first amnesty program in compliance with the Law on Amnesty 2018 and was organized after the success of national important events, including the 13th National Party Congress and elections for the National Assembly and People’s Councils.
Deputy Minister Giang said amnesty policy shows the spirit of humanity and leniency and called for functional agencies' cooperation in amnesty work.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with agencies of the Ministry of Public Security to carry out amnesty work, particularly concerning foreign cases. Vĩnh Quang prison is detaining nearly half of foreign offenders who are serving sentences in Vietnam.
