(VOVworld)- The Youth Union in Da Nang City has launched the annual trees planting festival in response to President Ho Chi Minh’s call during Tet anniversary. More than 300 Youth Union members have planted 2,000 trees and they expect to plant 20,000 more by next year. This movement will raise public awareness on environmental protection and, as the Deputy Secretary of Da Nang ’s Youth Union, Doan Xuan Hieu, puts it: “The tree planting festival is in response to President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for tree planting during spring and a movement to build new rural area. As a result, 13 roads in Hoa Vang district will have trees coverage. We will encourage students and Youth Union members to plant more trees at their schools and offices.”
