According to Díaz-Canel, the negotiation process focuses on three main issues including identifying bilateral issues that need to be resolved; proposing feasible solutions; and assessing whether both sides have sufficient goodwill to implement concrete steps for the benefit of their peoples. This also includes exploring areas of cooperation to address common threats and ensure security and peace for both nations.

The Cuban leader also acknowledged that the ongoing energy crisis is significantly affecting people’s lives and production activities. However, he affirmed that the government will continue prioritizing the protection of jobs and workers’ incomes, while encouraging community initiatives to support economic development and social stability.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the United States is in talks with Cuba and that US leaders should agree to a deal, adding that such an agreement is entirely achievable.
