In an interview with VOV ahead of the CPV’s 14th National Congress, General Secretary Weerasinghe said Sri Lanka is studying Vietnam’s development model to adapt it to its own context.
Under the CPV’s leadership, Vietnam is striving to become a modern, developed, industrialized nation by 2045. Over the past five years, Vietnam's average GDP growth has topped 6% and the country has the necessary conditions to achieve even higher growth rates, Weerasinghe said.
He noted that the Communist Party of Sri Lanka is committed to continued friendly relations with the CPV.
