The US continues to be the country hardest hit by the pandemic, followed by Brazil. In Europe, although the pandemic is better controlled, the number of new cases in the past 24 hours has reached nearly 17,000, bringing the total count in the continent to more than 2.7 million with over 200,000 deaths.

Africa’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the continent has recorded more than 780,000 cases of COVID-19 with over 16,600 deaths.
