Foreign delegates said Vietnam has well performed its role right in the first month of its tenure as a non-permanent member. They said Vietnam has built a reasonable agenda and handled complicated issues in a flexible manner. Many recognized Vietnam’s efforts to regularly provide information on the council’s work to non-member countries, non-governmental organizations and the media.

Marc Pecsteen de Buytswerve, Ambassador and Head of Belgium’s mission to the UN, whose country will be Chair of UN Security Council in February, told Vietnam News Agency that Vietnam created a good impression with the open debate on 75 years of the UN Charter in the context of world complexity.

Dian Triansyah Djani, Ambassador and Head of Indonesia’s mission to the UN, said the inclusion of ASEAN into the UNSC agenda was a golden opportunity, adding that Vietnam has excellently accomplished its Chairmanship though it is a tough task.

Anne Gueguen, Deputy Head of France’s mission to the UN applauded Vietnam’s flexibility and effectiveness, expressing her impression on what Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy and his team has done over the past month despite numerous challenges.
