Guterres warned that, according to the latest UN Environment Program report, countries’ emissions commitments will only be one-third of what's required. He stressed the need to step up countries’ adaptability and responses to climate change. The partnership of private sectors and local and regional authorities is needed in implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change, he added. Guterres called on governments to reduce CO2 emissions.
The US’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement will increase the average global temperature by 0.5 DC by the end of the century, the Climate Action Tracker reported.
