On behalf of ASEAN members, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, head of Vietnam's Permanent Mission to the UN, praised the UN’s support for development programs in ASEAN, adding that ASEAN’s initiatives and activities this year aim to increase connection between the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and Agenda 2030.

The key areas are poverty reduction, capacity building in response to disasters, infrastructure, and sustainable management of natural resources.

Ambassador Nga called for improving coordination among UN organizations through recognizing countries’ priorities, matching programs o the competence of each nation, and effectively using resident coordinators.

Ms. Nga called on UN members to continue to support South-South and tripartite cooperation.
