(VOVworld)- The official SANA news agency reported that the Syrian army killed 55 armed insurgent fighters in separate operations across the country on Friday.

The army carried out attacks in al-Ghouta, Douma, Jobar and Deir Attieh, on the outskirts of Damascus. A couple of days earlier, 175 rebels attempting to sneak into Damascus were killed. In parallel with its operations across the country, the Syrian government has urged opposition fighters to surrender in exchange for pardon.

Meanwhile, pro-government demonstrations have returned to the streets, mainly in the capital and other government-controlled areas.
