(VOVworld) – A conference of the Vietnamese and Cambodian parliaments opened today in Ho Chi Minh city, marking Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012 and the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the conference is not only an opportunity for Vietnam and Cambodia to review the time-honored relations during a period of nationalist struggle but also shows thier determination to boost friendship and cooperation to a new height. Mr. Nguyen Sinh Hung: “The conference is an important historical landmark that further deepens the comprehensive ties between the two countries, promoting good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability to build a strong and united ASEAN for peace, cooperation and development. This will promote our aspirations and benefit our two peoples.”
Cambodia’s NA Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin spoke highly of the great achievements the two countries have made in national construction and defence. He also expressed his deepest thanks for the great support Vietnamese leaders and people have given them in past years.
The 4-day conference will focus on exchanging work experiences of the two National Assemblies and exchanging ideas of the two countries’ associations, border localities and youth unions.
