Condolences pour in over Party General Secretary’s death

(VOVWORLD) -Following the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, senior leaders from various countries, international organisations, parties, and friendship organisations worldwide have sent condolences to the CPV Central Committee, the President, Prime Minister, and people of Vietnam, and the late leader’s family.

Canada's Governor General Mary Simon said in her message that the Party General Secretary will be remembered for his dedicated service to the Vietnamese people. She said Canada appreciates his support for the establishment of a comprehensive partnership between Canada and Vietnam, which has benefited both peoples.

Letters of condolence were sent to President To Lam from Croatian President Zoran Milanović, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, Secretary-General of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) Obert Moses Mpofu, Chairman of the People's Party of Kazakhstan Ermūhamet Ertısbaev, and Chief Representative of Japan's Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo.

Meanwhile, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico sent a message of condolence to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Leaders of ruling parties, communist parties, and partner parties of Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Colombia, Peru, Denmark, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Iraq, and Paraguay sent telegrams/condolence letter to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
