This will be Mr. Xi’s third visits to Vietnam as General Secretary and President of China, the previous two being in 2015 and 2017.

The visit will take place on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership (2008-2023).

Since then bilateral relationship has increasingly developed in a practical and effective direction with many outstanding achievements in various fields. Senior leaders of both countries maintain flexible forms of exchange and contact, while their Parties have also maintained regular exchanges and cooperation.

During the exchanges, China has clearly attached much importance to its relationship with Vietnam. High-ranking Chinese leaders have expressed their desire to promote stable relations between the two Parties and two States.

Nong Duc Lai, Trade Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, said: "Vietnam - China are two neighboring countries sharing a border, having similarities in political institutions and socio-cultural closeness, especially political trust and common awareness of senior leaders of the two countries’s Party and State, which is illustrated by Vietnamese General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to China in October 2022 and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit in June. The comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is an important foundation and premise for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries to develop more strongly in the future.”

During the visit, Vietnam and China are scheduled to discuss and upgrade bilateral relations to a new level to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
