(VOVworld) - China’s 3rd plenary session of the 12th National People Congress opened in Beijing on Thursday to discuss a range of important policies regarding China’s economic direction. At a Wednesday press conference in Beijing, parliamentary spokeswoman for the National People’s Congress, Fu Ying, said the 3rd plenary session will focus on the "Four Comprehensives" strategic layout in order to realize economic and social development targets. The "Four Comprehensives" refers to a political concept initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which comprises "comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, comprehensively deepening reform, comprehensively advancing the rule of law, and comprehensively governing the Communist Party of China.

After the opening ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in China’s capital Beijing, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang delivered the government work report. According to the report, China announced a 10.1-percent rise in its national defense budget for 2015. lower than last year’s figure of 12.2 percent. The government set this year's growth target for approximately 7%, with 10 million new jobs to be generated.
