Qin made the remarks during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Meeting of Foreign Ministers in India.
The two officials discussed bilateral relations, the Ukraine crisis, and other global and regional issues of mutual concern.
Qin said Beijing will patiently persuade peace, promote negotiations, and be ready to maintain communication and coordination with Russia to settle the political crisis in Ukraine.
On the same day, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations Geng Shuang called on the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to create conditions for Russia and Ukraine to resume negotiations.
He reiterated that China will send the government's special envoy on Eurasian affairs to Ukraine and countries involved to contribute efforts to an early ceasefire and restoration of peace.
