(VOVWORLD) - Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang on Tuesday summoned Robert Forden, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in China, to lodge a formal protest and strong condemnation of US sanctions against 14 vice chairpersons of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, according to Xinhua News Agency.

The move by the US side has grossly violated the basic norms governing international relations, interfered in China's internal affairs, and harmed China-US relations, said Zheng, adding that the act is outrageous, unscrupulous, and vile. Zheng said China expresses strong indignation and condemnation against it.
