(VOVworld) - Indonesia and China issued a joint statement on future directions of their comprehensive strategic partnership during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit there.  The statement emphasizes that Indonesia, China and other ASEAN countries must work together to fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), enhance mutual trust, promote cooperation, and maintain peace and stability in the East Sea. Leaders of the two countries agreed to work toward approving a Code of Conduct in the East Sea. Xi visited Kuala Lumpur on Thursday before coming back to Indonesia to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on the island of Bali. He will pay a courtesy visit to the King of Malaysia and meet with Prime Minister Najib Razak prior to the China-Malaysia Economic Cooperation Summit.
