China calls on US to respect One China principle

(VOVWORLD) - China has called on the US to respect the One China principle as a US congressional delegation is visiting Chinese Taipei for two days from Sunday.

The visit comes less than two weeks after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Chinese Taipei.

Xinhua’s commentary emphasized on Sunday that visits by US lawmakers and politicians to Chinese Taipei seriously violate the One China principle. Beijing has vowed to respond to moves that threaten this principle.

The five-member congressional delegation is led by Democratic Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts.
