(VOVworld) - China and the European Union have held their fifth round of high-level strategic dialogue in Beijing to discuss ways to improve political and economic ties and cooperation on global issues.

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said that in order to boost China-EU ties, it is necessary to create favorable conditions for the building of the China-EU partnership for peace, growth, reform and civilization agreed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and EU leaders in March, 2014. Mr. Yang Jiechi said China and the EU have agreed to enhance mutual trust and negotiation on a bilateral investment agreement, and boost cooperation in trade, climate change response, and preparations for the 17th meeting between Chinese and EU leaders to take place this year. The two sides agreed to further cooperation on resolving Iran’s nuclear issue, and fighting terrorism. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini said the dialogue has boosted EU-China relations. The two sides discussed developments in Iraq, Syria, Libya, and other places where EU and China have common interests.
