The Syrian Foreign Ministry also confirmed the information. Syria has transferred 92 per cent of its chemical stockpile out of its territory under an agreement with Russia and the US. Ahmet Uzumcu, Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), said that Syria had stopped all weapon production activities and destroyed devices, warheads, and buildings relating to a program to produce weapon of mass destruction weapons as pledged. The vessel is expected to reach Gioia Tauro port, Italy, within a week. The chemicals will be transported to the US Cape Ray cargo ship for destruction offshore.
