(VOVworld) – The Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption made  its debut and convened its first session on Monday in Hanoi. To Huy Rua, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organization, announced the Politburo’s directive on the establishment of the committee, which belongs to the Politburo. The committee comprises of 16 people led by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Closing the session, Trong said the establishment of the committee is aimed at implementing a Party resolution on creating further breakthroughs in the fight against corruption and waste, which concerns the regime’s sustainability. The Party leader noted that anti-corruption efforts should be aggressive and constant: “Each member should be exemplary, clean, brave, straightforward and honest, and not be seduced by any interest or thwarted by any obstacle. The standing agency, the Internal Affairs Commission, should do the same. There will be a strict selection process to sort out qualified cadres.”

Trong urged the steering committee to set working rules, assign tasks to members, and finalize the whole term’s work agenda and key tasks for 2013.
