Bernardino Leon, Head of UN Support Mission in Libya, said on Tuesday that a proposal of a new government of national unity could be announced this week. Libya has been suffering a state of insecurity and chaos since the fall and death of its former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
Last August, an Islamic group called Libya Dawn seized Tripoli and set up its own parliament and government. Meanwhile, the internationally-recognized government of Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni has been forced to work from the East. Libya has since then been divided between two governments.
