Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Tuesday that the meeting will boost diplomatic efforts for a denuclearized, secure, and prosperous Korean peninsula. Parties will also discuss ways to increase the effectiveness of sanctions in maintaining international order. Tillerson vowed to continue t o put pressure on North Korea to resume negotiations.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in said that South Korea has paused joint drills with the US and has invited North Korea to the Winter Olympic in Pyeongchang next year, in an efforts to de-escalate tensions on the Korean peninsula.
