(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of Can Tho as a centrally-administered city. Speaking at the event, Le Hong Anh, Party Politburo member and Party Central Committee's secretary praised the city’s achievements over the past decade.

He urged the municipal leaders to turn Can Tho into a modern and civilized city, a gateway of the lower Mekong basin, and a center of industries, trade and services, culture, healthcare, and science and technology of the Mekong delta region and the whole nation.
On this occasion, Can Tho City’s Party Committee and administration were conferred the Independence Order, first class, by the State President for the city’s achievements in national construction and defense.
