(VOVworld) – The Cambodian People’s Party’s (CPP) extraordinary congress concluded on Sunday after 3 days.

The congress elected 306 new members to the Central Committee. A statement released following the congress said the aim was to build and consolidate the Party in all areas and improve the Party’s leadership in order to sustainably protect all the party’s achievements over the past 36 years. At a press briefing, CPP spokesman and Information Minister Khieu Kanharith said that 88 per cent of the newly-elected members are below the age of 50.
