(VOVworld) – Vietnam and Cambodia will work together to formulate a joint programme “Connecting the two economies” aiming to bring bilateral trade revenue to 5 billion USD by 2015.

The agreement was reached at the fifth session of the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Cambodian Ministry of Planning in Phnom Penh on Monday. The initiative on connecting the two economies were agreed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen during Mr. Dung’s visit to Cambodia early 2014. Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh said the joint programme will cover such key areas as transport, telecommunications, finance, banking, agriculture, and tourism connecting border provinces of both sides. Mr. Vinh said: "This is an effective way of cooperation, which will promote trade and investment between the two countries. This initiative will work effectively and help boost cooperation in economics, trade and investment between Vietnam and Cambodia in the near future".
