(VOVworld)- The first bus rapid transit or BRT route opened in Hanoi on Saturday running from Kim Ma to Yen Nghia. Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and Vice President of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuat Viet Hung attended the launching ceremony.

The 15 km-route runs through Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, Nam Tu Liem, and Ha Dong district from 5am to 10pm with the frequency of between 5 to 15 minutes for one way on weekday and 7 and 15 minutes on Sunday. 24 buses operate on this route serving passengers free of charge in January and from February a ticket will cost 7,000 VND.
The BRT project has a total investment capital of 53.6 million USD.
