Speaking in parliament after economists predicted the hit to the public finances from the vote to leave the EU will be greater than any possible gains from ending Britain’s EU membership fee, Mrs. May made it clear there would be strict limits to any stimulus and the government still sought a surplus on the public finances and the deadlines for achieving that target by 2020 had been dropped. Experts called on the British government to adopt more economic stimulus packages to cope with instability.
