(VOVworld) - Photos of the black box recovered from the Germanwings Airbus crash site show it has been badly damaged, but experts said they hoped to recover 'usable data' from the damaged cockpit voice recorder salvaged from the obliterated Airbus A320.
A second black box which contains operations data has not yet been found.
On Wednesday, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy came to inspect the crash site and check the rescue work. The same day, German Minister of Internal Affairs Thomas de Maiziere said there was no sign of terrorism.
The German Federal Police Office (BKA) has sent an expert group to France for identification work which is expected to take at least a week.
A memorial service for the victims was held by the Lufthansa group the same day and flags were at haft-mass at the European Council (EC) in Brussels and the chancellery in Berlin. Vietnam sent its deep condolences to the governments and families of the victims. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh on Wednesday said that there has been no report of Vietnamese passengers on board the crashed plane and the Vietnamese Embassies in Germany, Spain, and France are verifying this information.
