(VOVworld) - Beninese President Thomas Boni Yayi has highlighted Benin’s wish to improve its relations with Vietnam and proposed the establishment of a joint committee to bolster bilateral ties. The proposal was made last week at a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Truong Giang, who came to present his credential. Yayi took the occasion to reiterate Benin’s recognition of Vietnam’s market economy. He urged both sides to exchange information on markets and economic potential, adding that Benin wanted to increase its imports from Vietnam, such as rice and consumer goods. The President suggested Vietnam send its experts to Benin to support or create joint ventures in agriculture and construction and enable more Vietnamese companies to penetrate Benin’s market.
