The beauty pageant, the first of its kind in the Czech Republic, was organized under the sponsorship of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Europe. Head of the Contest Organizing Board and President of the Vietnam Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic, Pham Gia Hau said the contest is offered as a playground for all beauties across Europe with the aim of promoting the splendor of Vietnamese Ao Dai to international friends. He said: “We praise the role played by women in the society and hope that the contest will enhance the Vietnamese women image in the community.  Younger generations of Vietnamese living abroad will become interested in the history and values of the Ao Dai costume.”

90 contestants from 13 countries have been shortlisted from 135 entries to participate in the final round. They participated in a series of activities including traditional and neo-classic gowns show, photo shows and an outdoors Ao Dai fashion show in the old quarter of Prague.
