This is the second year the mountainous province of Bac Kan has organized this event which features new activities such as an introduction of agricultural products of the One Commune, One Product program and cuisine of the Tay, Nung, Mong, and Dao groups.

"Bac Kan Culture and Tourism Week will promote the production of fragrant green pumpkin, an indigious plant. Every year we will renew cultural tourism products. The annual event aims to preserve tangible and intangible cultural values, particularly the culture of Bac Kan ethnic groups, including their costumes, festivals, beliefs, languages, and food,” said Ha Van Tien, Director of the Bac Kan Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The same day Bac Kan authorities and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment co-organized a workshop on coordinated actions to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Pham Minh Thao, Director of the Biodiversity Conservation of the World Wide Fund for Nature in Vietnam, said, “It’s necessary to review biodiversity values in Vietnam, including in land, coastal areas, wetland areas, and the sea. To achieve the set targets, we need the cooperation of everyone, not only private organizations, NGOs like us, but also domestic and foreign organizations and especially the community.”
