Under the change, from next year, Victoria, the second state in Australia, will strengthen the enforcement of general anti-defamation laws in cyberspace by requiring social media platforms, forums, and news sites to disclose the identities of individuals who make defamatory statements.
Secondly, Victoria's police commissioner will be able to stop or move on a public protest within a certain time following a designated terrorist event.
Thirdly, Victoria is committed to strengthening gun laws and developing options to limit open-ended firearm licensing, allowing the additional use of criminal intelligence to underpin firearm licensing.
Fourth, Victoria will appoint a Commissioner to implement the state's new Strategy for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism from now until 2028 and drive a new community-led focus to stop hate at the source.
Fifth, Victoria will increase the enforcement of laws and regulations on anti-hate principles and laws and further recognize Jewish life and culture.
