Australian PM visits China to boost trade ties

(VOVWORLD) -Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Sunday began a visit to China to strengthen trade ties between the two countries. 

During the week-long visit, the Australian leader will hold high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), Zhao Leji. On Sunday, he met with Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining.

The Australian Prime Minister's Office said that during the visit, Albanese will work with representatives in the business, tourism and sports sectors in Shanghai and Chengdu, and attend a roundtable conference with CEOs in Beijing on Tuesday.

“Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's ongoing visit to China marks a pivotal step in advancing the steadily improving relationship between the two countries,” Xinhua News Agency said on Sunday. By managing differences through mutual respect and focusing on shared interests, the two sides can achieve common prosperity and benefit, according to Xinhua.
