Nicola Carmichael, brand director for travel search engine Kayak, said Vietnam was a favorite tourist destination among Australians post-Covid.

"Searches to Ho Chi Minh City in the second half of this year are up by around 140% compared to 2019," Carmichael told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The average price of a return economy flight from Australia to Ho Chi Minh City is now only 580 USD, making the city a great choice for those looking for air travel for less than 1,000 USD.

With Bamboo Airway and Vietjet launching Australian routes, the Vietnamese carriers will be back to pre-COVID capacity, said Professor Rico Merkert, an aviation expert at the University of Sydney. Vietnam may even compete with Bali (Indonesia) for the most attractive destinations for Australian tourists.
