The money will enable the Hue eye hospital to train eye surgeons and upgrade the facilities and equipment of the eye care centers in Nam Dong, Phong Dien, and Phu Loc. The community eye care programs in Thua Thien Hue have received a total 1 million USD from FHF since 2006. Previously, under the FHF’s “avoidable blindness” project, the Hue ophthalmology hospital was constructed. 200 outpatients and 100 inpatients can be diagnosed and treated here each day.
