In her opening speech, Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said the State Audit Office of Vietnam as chair of ASOSAI 14 will do its utmost for a stronger and more sustainable organization and to contribute values to the Asian and global economies. She added: “In the near future, I want the State Audit Office of Vietnam to increase publicity, transparency, professionalism, and modernization of its operations, build a contingent of auditors, who have work ethics and competence and are equipped with modern auditing methods. The State Audit of Vietnam should continue to uphold its role as the protector of laws and integrity of the public finance and asset management system. I hope that the auditors will work together to create a new momentum for regional countries’ prosperity. I believe that ASOSAI 14 will be a success.”
Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam Ho Duc Phoc said his organization will strengthen cooperation and solidarity between supreme auditing institutions. He said: “The 14th Assembly of ASOSAI will decide important issues. The Assembly’s topic of environmental auditing for sustainable development reflects the organization’s message, commitment, effort, and practical contribution to achieving the UN sustainable development goals and address global environmental problems. The Hanoi Declaration, an official document of the Assembly, is expected to contribute to capacity building of Supreme Audit Institutions in settling environmental issues and making important proposals for sustainable development of each member country.”
