At the upcoming ASEAN Summit for the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community, ASEAN leaders will start negotiations to establish an ASEAN free trade area in the framework of Asia’s Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), said Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Prasidh. Principles and guidelines for RCEP negotiation are now being prepared. RCEP is based on an open approach, admitting any partner in the ASEAN free trade agreement, including Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand. RCEP’s goal is to make ASEAN a 17,000 billion USD market with 3 billion people.
